Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Alton Meeks, age 83, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Johnson and Bro. Gary Solberg officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in New Market, AL. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until 1 PM on Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home.
Kenneth was born at home in Madison County, Alabama, on April 27, 1942, to the late John William “Bill” Meeks and Margie Estelle Sisk Meeks. A member of Crystal Ridge Community Church, Mr. Meeks lived a life rooted in faith, family, and farming.
A lifelong dairy farmer, Kenneth found great joy in tending to his cows and goats, always taking pride in being “in charge” of the farm. His strong work ethic and deep love for the land were only surpassed by his love for his family. One of his greatest joys was knowing that the fifth generation of the Meeks family, Summitt Campbell, is expected in November 2025. Kenneth passed away at home on July 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Durham Meeks; children, Thomas (Bonnie) Meeks, Lyndon (Janette) Meeks, and Teresa Lynn Meeks (Stacey) Hoxworth; grandchildren, Brian (Karen) Meeks, Brad (Audra) Meeks, Jennifer (Brent) McGee, Asheleigh Hoxworth, and Tyler Hoxworth; bonus grandchildren, Christopher Jean, and Caleb (Jessica) Jean; great-grandchildren, Addison (Justis) Campbell, Maddox Meeks (Anna Kate Cooper), Brody McGee, Aubrey McGee, Cole McGee, Paisley Meeks, and Paige Meeks; bonus great-grandchildren, Arianna Jean, Jayce Jean, and Ava Jean; sisters-in-law, Hazel Meeks and Gerald Dean Meeks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Dean Meeks and Larry Eugene Meeks; sister, Carol Annette Meeks; and great-niece, Hannah Kirsten Meeks.
Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Kenneth Alton Meeks.
