Kenneth A. Smith

Kenneth Andrew Smith, 78, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday (February 27, 2021), at St. Thomas West Hospital surrounded by his family. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 11:00 am, at Stateline Cemetery, Hazel Green, Alabama with Reverend Ray Gardner and Pastor Parker Smith Officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.

A native of Lincoln County he was born on September 18, 1942 to the late Fred T. and Edith June Rogers Smith. He was a loving husband, father and friend to all. Mr. Smith was a member of the Prospect Baptist Church and retired from PPG, Industries in Huntsville, AL after 36 years. He was John Deer Tractor enthusiast from tractor restoration to collecting. His most recent project was his 1956 T-Bird Convertible that he enjoyed tinkering with and going to local car shows. He enjoyed traveling near and far with multiple trips across country seeing 49 of the 50 states.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister Fredna Smith and brother Rickey Smith. Survivors include his wife Evelyn Tallent Smith of 57 years, daughter Terri Schwierling of Fayetteville, and son Shelby Scott (Pam) Smith of Oak Ridge, TN, brother Dennis (Paulette) Smith of Fayetteville and sister-in-law Shirley Smith of Shelbyville, TN.

Memorials may be made to the Prospect Baptist Church, American Heart Association, or a charity of your choice. The family of Mr. Smith kindly request that you wear a face covering at the graveside service on Wednesday.

Evelyn, Terri & Scot, our family is heart broken over your loss. Pam, Joe and I were just talking about all of you the other night and what a wonderful family you all are, always so kind and sweet. Kenneth was a great family man and respected by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Prayers for strength and comfort to all.

Evelyn, you two have been very special friends to Donald and me the last few years. We had so much in common but miles kept us from being together as often as we’d liked. We will truly miss Kenneth, but we’ll look forward to stay connected to you. You are on our heart and in our prayers.
