Joy J. Gleghorn

Funeral services for Joy J. Gleghorn, age 70, of Fayetteville, will be conducted Monday, December 2, 2013 at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Allen Black and Rev. Tommy Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Gleghorn passed away Thursday morning at her residence.

Mrs. Gleghorn was a native of Lincoln County, daughter of the late Dorval and Carline George Jean. She was a homemaker and life long member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gleghorn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother as well as an avid gardener, amazing cook and a dedicated Auburn fan.

Survivors include her husband Charles Gleghorn of Fayetteville, son Carl Gleghorn and wife Becky, daughter Gay Dempsey and husband Michael all of Petersburg, grandchildren Conner Dempsey, Jordan Dempsey, Evan Gleghorn, Taylor Gleghorn, Carter Gleghorn, Makena Dempsey, and Bailey Gleghorn, sister Dorvalyn Jean of Birmingham, AL.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday evening from 4 until 8 pm at Higgins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Public Library.

So sorry to hear of Joy’s death. She was a very sweet lady and I know she will be greatly missed. She has raised two wonderful children who meant the world to her and her grandchildren were so precious to her. I prayers are with you.

Joy was a wonderful person and always smiled and spoke. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. You’re in my heart and in my prayers.
