Johnny Reese Martin

Funeral service for Mr. Johnny Reese Martin, age 82, of Fayetteville, TN. will be conducted Sunday January 26, 2020 at 2 PM at Higgins Funeral Home, with Bro. James Strope officiating. Burial will follow beside his wife Shirley Martin in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg, TN. Johnny was born on September 21, 1937 in Fayetteville, TN to the late Joe Reese and Wilma L. Smith Martin. He worked as a tool and die maker for Goodman Manufacturing and loved electronics. Johnny collected old cars to rebuild and made his own parts in his tool and die shop. Mr. Martin passed away on January 24, 2020 at Donalson Care Center.
Survivors include his sister, Sylvia Martin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sister-in-law and care taker since his wife passed, Lisa Reese; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Martin, and brother-in-law, Kerry Reese.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday January 26, 2020 from 12 PM until time of service at Higgins Funeral Home. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Johnny Reese Martin.

Johnny was an excellent person. Knew him from the plant and hanging with him and Joe Smartt. RIP and prayers for the family.

Sylvia, I am sorry to learn of Johnny’s passing. When I worked, I frequently saw him at Honey’s Restaurant eating breakfast. He always had a friendly hello and smile.

So sorry for your loss. I was Mr. Martin’s home health nurse. He is back with Shirley now. They loved each other so much.
