Funeral services for Mr. John William Monks, Jr., age 87, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Langford and Bro. Bill Ivey officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery beside his wife Mildred Shelton Monks. Mr. Monks passed away Friday at Huntsville Hospital.
A son of the late John William and Vessie Jeffries Monks, he was a native of Lincoln County, a retired farmer, an Army veteran having served in WWII, and a member of Camargo Church of Christ.
Survivors include his son Terry Monks and wife Laura, granddaughters Stephanie Miller and Adrianne Monks, brother Maurice Monks, sisters Vera Stewart and Frances Gibson, and great-grandchildren Heath Sharp, Mya Miller, and Dylan Monks, all of Fayetteville. He was preceded in death by a sister Mildred Holt and brother L. Paul Monks.
Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 PM Saturday evening at Higgins Funeral Home.
