John Edward Harwell

Funeral service for Mr. John Edward Harwell, age 86, of Fayetteville, TN, will be conducted at 1 PM on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. David R. McCauley and Ley Jean officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will begin at 11 AM until time of service at 1 PM on Friday at Higgins Funeral Home.

John was born on May 30, 1933 in Giles County, TN to the late Malcolm and Mamie Harwell of Frankewing, TN. He attended Frankewing Elementary School, Beech Hill High School, and Middle Tennessee State University. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Church of Christ and attended services at Plainview Church of Christ in Hazel Green, AL. Mr. Harwell passed away on June 26, 2019 at his residence.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Doris Flynt Harwell; daughters Dottie Lamb of Fayetteville, TN, Donna Duncan of Mt. Juliet, TN, Ginger and Jason Howell of Nashville, TN, and Emily and Todd Brady of Fayetteville, TN; grandchildren, Michael and Corine Weston, Toby Weston, Nick Weston, Courtney Graziosi, Shellye Duncan. Melissa and Ley Jean, Matt Truesdale, Jonathan and Rebekah Lamb, Reagan Brady, and Elias Brady; and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carriage House Players, PO Box 916, Fayetteville, TN 37334 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.

We will miss Mr. John. We was a good man and we enjoyed his visits and the stories he told us when he would stop by on his walks. Our prayers are with the family.
