As Bro. Sanders & I spoke this morning he referred to John Douglas as “my brother”. He and I have always been close and I could not make a better choice. Before I was born he and Janice spent a lot of time with my parents on various outings according to them. My Dad, his namesake, was a mentor to him and he started out working at Coach Stephenson’s rock quarry across from Lincoln Paving. The Douthits are hard working people & John was no exception. He went on to being a successful bridge building foreman and retired after his employment on Redstone Arsenal, a position he acquired with the help of Hue Marshall Arney’s referral. John loved his community (Hotrock) and spent many hours with his friends at Doc’s Barn – the social club for the guys! He was active in the development of Shiloh Cemetery and expansion. He loved Page, his children and grandchildren, telling stories about them and boasting about their accomplishments.
John took loving care of his mother, daddy and Aunt Louise. He was tender hearted that way! Our family will certainly miss him but we are thankful his suffering is over and we look forward to the great homecoming in heaven. Thank you God for our loved one and how his life touched so many. Amen!

John Douglas was a good friend. I have known him since I was a young boy. We rode the same school bus to school. He told me once when I first started high school, If you have any problems, remember this, ” I’m your friend, I’ll be your friend when ever you need me. I can say he was true to his word. God Bless his family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family as you grieve the loss of a beloved, kind, and true gentleman, John Douglas. I grew up in Bugtussle Hollow in the Hot Rock community, and we worked, played, and grew up together. He was best man in our wedding and a true friend. Our hearts are hurting for your family. Cherish your memories and remember him as a roll model. May God bless your family.
