A private Memorial service for Mr. John Charles Galvin, age 81, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at Petersburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Bro. Troy Green officiating. There will be no visitation with the family prior to the service.
John was born on June 14, 1939 in Staten Island, NY to the late John Joseph and Alice Cary Blass Galvin. He served in the U.S. Air Force for over seven years before becoming a Bank Executive with Chemical Bank, which is now known as Chase Bank. John was very active in his church serving as the bookkeeper, as well as, serving Meals On Wheels for 27 years. He was an active member of the Molino Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years, serving as the Treasurer and a Firefighter. John also served as a volunteer for the Lincoln County EMA and the Lincoln County Volunteer Fire Departments. He was an avid reader, puzzle enthusiast, loved to travel and watch Jeopardy. John passed away on November 30, 2020 at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lillie Pearl Pratt Galvin; son, Robert “Rob” Galvin of Fayetteville; daughter, Lisa (Dan) Goehring of Pleasantville, TN; grandchildren, Jay Goehring, Nathaniel Goehring, Erik Goehring, Samuel Goehring, and Calvin Goehring; brother, David (Kathy) Galvin of Concord, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Molino Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Treasurer, 568 Molino Road, Lot# 2, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

John was such a nice quiet spoken man to talk with and so enjoyed his company along with Lillie. So hard to know that he no longer will be with us. May God Bless and keep him in his care.

My deepest sympathy to the family. John and I worked together while in the EMA/LCVFR. He worked diligently to get our hydrant program up to what it needed to be. John was a good man and good friend. He will surely be missed. May God give you strength , courage and faith to get through this difficult time.

We are greatly saddened by John’s passing, but grateful for the more than 50 years of friendship we have had with John, Lil and their children, Robert and Lisa. We fondly remember the good times: shared vacations; raucous card games; family celebrations, our visits to Fayetteville, and so many more memorable occasions together. John was my first boss in Chemical Bank. We comparted many great moments in State Islands and Levittown, NY. Such a sweet man. He was intelligent , perceptive , but more importantly, compassionate and loving. John ,also, was very conscious of giving back to his community. He understood our connections, our inter dependency. He worked with various community groups to use his tech knowledge to help others. We will also miss his sense of humor and clever word-play, his easy laugh and soft smile. While he was here, he made the world a better place. He will be sorely missed.

My deepest sympathy to the entire Galvin family. John was one of the kindest men I’ve ever met. I feel truly blessed to be able to call him “friend” and the have the opportunity to witness John and Lillie’s love for one another. I always described the Galvin’s as ” the oldest teenagers on their first date”. Lillie, Robert & Lisa, hold tight to the Lord. He is strength and mercy. Love to you all.

My condolences to the family. John & I were classmates at PS5 in Huguenot, Staten Island. We were in scouts together. We always had fun. I just found his obituary on the computer. RIP John
