John C. Smith

Funeral services for John C. Smith, age 89 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Friday March 27, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Kirk Smith and Rev. Joe Parks officiating. Burial will follow in Kelso Cemetery. Mr. Smith passed away Tuesday morning March 24, 2015.
He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Robert Coleman and Edna Pearl Gray Smith. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict, was a life long farmer and an Elder at the Kelso Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He served on the Board of Directors of Lincoln Farmer’s Co-op and the Lincoln County Farm Bureau. He also served on the Farm Service Agency Committee and was a NRCS committee member.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years Sara Jane Collins Smith of Fayetteville, son Cole (Sarah) Smith of Kelso, two daughters Jennifer (Steve) Snoddy of Kelso and Connie (Kendale) Ritchey of Lenoir City, ten grandchildren, brother Bob Smith of Fayetteville and sister Mary Ann King of Louisville, KY.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday March 26, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kelso Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Praying for your family at this time – We know you are all exhausted-praying for strength and rest. What a blessing I know it was for him that he got to be active in the farm as long as he could with the help of his children – I know nothing would have made him happier. Mrs. Jane I know you have not fully recovered from your surgery and you took care of him to the end, he knew he was loved.
