Joe W. West

Funeral service for Joe W. West, age 83 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Black officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. Mr. West passed away Monday night in the Lynchburg Nursing Home.
A native of Lincoln County, Mr. West was the son of the late Jim Bill and Daisy Lee Hill West. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and was an amazing contractor and loved his family, and raising Boston terriers. He was a self-employed contractor and builder. He was a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Martha LaVerne McCaleb West, two daughters Juandell (Ronnie) Groce of Smyrna and Jo Ann (Ricky) Scott of Fayetteville, grandchildren Meleia Dotson, Melanie Groce, Michael (Jill) Groce, Neil (Haley) Scott, Danielle Scott and eight great-grandchildren, brothers Rhea West, Harold (Diane) West, sister Doris (Bobby) Cothren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. West’s family would like to thank Lynchburg Nursing Home and the Manchester Medical Center for all their love and care.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 201 W. Lincoln St., Tullahoma, TN 37388. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening 5-8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.
