Joe Allen Parsley

It is with regret we announce the sudden passing of Joe Allen Parsley, age 76, of Fayetteville Tennessee on Saturday, May 14th, 2022. Joe was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on August 14, 1945. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 59 years, Delphia Gay Parsley; daughters, Pamela Parsley Steelman, and Heather Parsley Thompson (Brad Thompson); grandson, Alexander (Alex) Thompson, all of Fayetteville; sisters, Mary St. John of Woodbury, and Nell Moore (Carl Moore) of Murfreesboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Olene Parsley; sister, Patsy Rutledge; brother, Danny Parsley; and son-in-law, Ray Steelman. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Joe was a successful grocery business owner since 1968: Parsley’s Supermarket and later numerous convenience stores DBA Parsley Enterprises. He also raised Black Angus Cattle on his farm and was a member of the Black Angus Association. He took great delight in watching his only grandchild, Alex, learn the cattle business at a very young age winning many 1st Place awards and showmanship honors, and eventually becoming a 4H Livestock Judge. He also wanted Alex (Big Al) to never forget how he was loved, and if he could give him one thing in life it would be the ability to see himself through his eyes; only then would he realize how special he was to his PaPa, just like his two daughters were.

A funeral service will be held at 4 pm on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Dwight Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Boonville Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 2 pm until 4 pm on Wednesday at Higgins.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692, or American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA  22116-7023.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Joe Allen Parsley.

Mrs Gay, I’m so sorry to hear about Mr. Joe. I have always thought so much of both of y’all. You’ve been so good to my family over the many years. Starting with your grocery store on the by-pass before I was even born. My mama and daddy thought so much of y’all too. Joyce and Johnny Henderson. And it meant alot that you always asked about mama everytime I saw you. Y’all are both wonderful people. Thank God for you both and I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Rest in peace Mr Joe Parsley. You will be missed by so many. You touched so many people in your time here with us. Love, Melissa Henderson
