Jo Athena (Jodie) Newberry

It is with regret that we announce the passing of Jo Athena (Jodie) Newberry, age 58, of Taft, TN. A graveside service will be held at 1pm at Blanche Cemetery on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Jodie was born on November 26, 1962, in Troy, OH to Lanna Jo Mooney Jones and the late Harold Clifton Newberry. She loved to paint or draw and spent a great deal of time crafting and making cards. Jodie enjoyed decorating for every holiday, but especially loved Halloween and Christmas. She passed away October 20, 2021, at Lincoln Medical Center.

Jodie is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Jo (Michael) Perry of Taft; grandson, Tripp Perry; brother, Doug Newberry of Dellrose; sisters Yvonne (Rick) Helmick of Gulf Shores, AL and Nikki McNeal of Ardmore, AL; stepmother, Sue Newberry of Elkmont, AL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her faithful companion, Phoebe Louise. Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Jacob Jones.

I love you and think of you everyday. This has been much harder than I could of ever imagined. I know you are at peace but we miss you terribly. I hope you knew how much I loved you. Rest high my sweet sister.
