Jewell Shelton Tucker, age 96, returned to her Heavenly Father July 16, 2017. Born August 9, 1920 in Lincoln County Tennessee. Jewell was a long time resident of Lincoln County, Cumberland City, and Soddy-Daisy Tennessee. Jewell also resided in Louisville, Kentucky for eight years. She spent her last 9 years in Marietta GA at Atherton Place Retirement Community.
Jewell was a member of Woodstock Georgia Church of Christ. Jewell and her loving husband, Wilson, were active members of a local Church of Christ wherever they resided. Everywhere Jewell went people knew her for her wonderful, delicious cooking. She was maybe best known for her coconut pies.
Jewell was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Clayton Wilson Tucker, Jr., her parents, Eddie Carmichael Shelton and Nora George Shelton and her sister, Ruth Shelton Moorehead (Leelon). Also preceding her in death were her sister-in-law Alise Tucker Sanders (Albert), brother-in-law Glenn Tucker (Johnie), and sister-in-law Pauline Tucker Thompson (Bill).
She is survived by her children, Leroy W. Tucker (Marilyn), Linda Tucker Portz (Howard), Gary W. Tucker, Larry W. Tucker (Libbey). Five grandchildren: Wayne Tucker, Kim Tucker Barnes (Dan), Amy Portz Stitt (Jeremy), Julie Portz Church (Matthew), and Rebecca Portz. Eight Great Grandchildren and five Great-Great Grandchildren.
Jewell is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and their families.

Visitation with the family will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at Higgins Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Tennessee on July 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. with burial at Lincoln Cemetery immediately following. Officiating are Ministers Paul Clayton and Bryan Collins. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Jewell Shelton Tucker.

Mrs. Jewell was such a blessing and inspiration in my life. I spent quite a lot of time with her when she lived on Circle Drive. Right next to my parents home. The thing that I will hold close to my heart were the special talks that we had. Sitting around her table (usually eating Sonic burgers) and listening to her talk about her lifetime of memories. Mrs. Jewell was truly a fine Christian woman who I will never forget.

I remember being in Mrs. Tucker’s home as a Home Health nurse when I saw her husband. Mrs. Jewell and Mr. Wilson were always so kind and cordial to me, we enjoyed talking and laughing during those visits. If I remember correctly I drew blood on Mr. Wilson and I remember he had a fondness for pizza, Mrs Jewell had a quick little laugh and was also always so gracious. I extend my deepest sympathy to all the family of this sweet lady.

My deepest condolences to the family on the loss of your loved one. And may you find comfort in knowing that your dear one is safe in the memory of God, who will remember every detail about her and bring her back again in the resurrection. (Acts 24:15) So for now, just think of her as sleeping peacefully waiting for Jesus to wake her up. God bless you.

I remember being at this lady’s house growing up(my mother was a cousin ) and what good times those were. She was a sweet soul.
