Jessica Beasley Colbert

Celebration of life for Jessica Beasley Colbert, age 29, of Fayetteville, TN, was conducted Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 12 noon at the Fayetteville First Baptist Church with Dr. Jon Hathcock and Rev. Jay Strother officiating with music provided by Jeremy and Mary Beth Johnson. The burial service followed in Lebanon Cemetery. Mrs. Colbert passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Mrs. Colbert was a native of Williamson County, TN, the daughter of Linda (Tom) Blough and Tony (Susan) Beasley. She was a homemaker, a member of the Brentwood Baptist Church and she attended Fayetteville First Baptist Church with her husband and children. She was a graduate of Centennial High School in Franklin, TN and of The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She earned her Bachelor of Business degree in Management.

Survivors include her husband Jay Colbert, children Charlie Grace Colbert, James Gray Colbert all of Fayetteville, TN, mother and step-father Linda and Tom Blough of Franklin, TN, father and step-mother Tony and Susan Beasley of Antioch, TN, sister Rebekah Haynes and husband Michael of Johnson City, TN, brother Brian Blough and wife Nicky of Arkport, NY, grandmothers Charlene Morrison of Brentwood, TN, Jane Beasley of Greeneville, KY, nieces and nephews Layla, Nash and Scarlett Haynes, Delia Blough, Max Smith, Tanner Synder, and Brittany Drazen, in-laws Dr. Jim and Jean Colbert of Fayetteville, TN, sister-in-law Mary Beth Colbert of Nashville, TN, grandmothers-in-law Maureen Ables and Shelby Colbert both of Fayetteville, TN. Survivors also include “adopted” sisters, Denise Fernandes of Brazil, and Heather Williams of Chattanooga, TN, and many, many friends.

Jessica was a young woman full of life and lived each day to the fullest. She loved everyone and was a devoted friend to all. She loved to dance, sing (especially in the car), giraffes, free pie Wednesdays, and shoes. She loved going on mission trips to Brazil and to Moldova. She loved her husband and her two children with all her heart and soul. Most importantly, she loved her Lord Jesus and her life was a reflection of that devotion.

Visitation with the family was Friday, January 20, 2017 from 4 until 8 p.m. and Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Fayetteville First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Colbert Family Children’s Fund at First National Bank or the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Humane Society.

We are sorry to hear about your loss. Sickness has robbed us of our loved ones resulting in their death. May these scriptures bring you all comfort. Isaiah 33:24 promises ,”And no resident will say: “I am sick.” The people dwelling in the land will be pardoned for their error.” When Jesus was on earth he healed the sick and raised the dead. At John 11:25 “Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” What a wonderful hope we can look forward to and may God strengthened you in the days ahead.

Dear Jay and Family,
It breaks my heart to hear of your loss. This is one of those times our hearts just ache and ask “why?”
Yet, in the midst of that we still know God is Love and He is still Sovereign. Sometimes He takes sickness out of a person and sometimes He takes the person out of sickness. I am glad the Apostle Paul called death a departure. Jessica has left here to go there…heaven. You will see her agsin. God will provide for you and your little ones. You will continue in my prayers as you pass through this grieving process. There will come a better day and Jessica will rejoice when that happens. Love in Jesus.
