Jerry Wayne Schmidt

Funeral service for Jerry Wayne Schmidt, age 69 of Kelso, TN, will be conducted at 2 PM on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Higgins Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens: Garden of Honor.

Jerry was born on July 9, 1949 in Imboden, Arkansas to the late Henry and Lillie Mae Croxton Schmidt. He served the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, enjoyed fishing, and was a member of the Elora Baptist Church. Jerry passed away on May 16, 2019 in Soc Trang, Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife, Thi Sul Schmidt; son, Derrick Schmidt of Athens, AL; daughters, Melissia Meeks and husband Tim of Fayetteville, TN, Somaly Applewhite, and Tina Foy; grandchildren, Hunter, Hayden, and Hallie Meeks, Nichole Repasky, Kaleb Hawkins, Hollie Taylor, and Eli Schmidt; sister, Wilma Jo Johnson of Huntland, TN; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret Hawkins, Raymond Schmidt, Henry Schmidt, Elsie Johnson, LP Schmidt, and Ruby Pruitt.

Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Higgins Funeral Home.  Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Jerry Wayne Schmidt.

We loved Jerry very much, he was our brother in Christ. We want to send our love and prayers to Sul, Melissia, Derrick, Wilma Jo & all the family.

I hated to hear of y’alls loss my kids grew up with Taco and my mother in law was Lena Johnson Lancaster my thoughts and prayers will be with y’all in the days ahead God Bless you all
