Janice Moore Delap

Funeral service for Mrs. Janice Moore Delap, age 82, of Fayetteville, TN, will be conducted at 2 PM on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Higgins Funeral Home. Bro. Steve Kirby will officiate. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery.

Janice was born on September 21, 1936 in Fayetteville, TN to the late James W. and Dorothy “Dot” Dale Moore. She was a member of the Howell Hill Church of Christ. Those who knew Janice knew that one of her greatest joys in life was music. She was an accomplished musician having taught piano lessons to many students in school and in private lessons. At one time, she opened and managed and AB Stephens Music Store here in Fayetteville selling organs and pianos with music lessons included, of course. Additionally, she performed publicly for many years playing the piano and organ in numerous weddings, graduations, dinner music in restaurants, for many private parties and various other public events. Her home was always filled with music and often the center of musical gatherings for family and friends and has remained so even to present day. Whether she was entertaining with it, teaching it to others, or simply listening to it at home with her girls, music provided a great deal of enjoyment for Janice and the entire family. Janice passed away peacefully on May 27, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Survivors include her daughters, Debra Delap (Ronald) Jean, Lisa Delap (Steve) Kirby, and Charla Delap Scivally; grandchildren, Ryan Jean, Dr. Jennifer (John) Lockman, Renae (Jason) Eadens, Dr. Katherine Kirby, Diana Kirby, Zach Scivally, and Morgan Scivally; great-grandchildren, Zachary Eadens, Caleb Eadens, and Emberlyn Lockman; and a brother, Jimmy (Judy) Moore. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Delap was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Delap, and a daughter, Diane Delap.

Visitation with the family will be from 11 AM until time of service at 2 PM on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Higgins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Howell Hill Church of Christ Building Fund, 526 Corders Crossroads Road, Fayetteville, TN 37334. Higgins Funeral Home is honored be serving the family of Mrs. Janice Moore Delap.

So sorry to hear about Janice passing; she was a great musician and my teacher on two occasions. I remember her putting on a special concert in the Lincoln School Gymnasium, long before the school burned. She was fantastic!

What a fine legacy Janice leaves. She was so accomplished in music & every time you heard her renditions you realized how much she enjoyed music. Her obituary reflected this so eloquently. Her music touched mostly everyone in Lincoln County. May God bless you, the family as you say goodbye for now to meet her again in paradise!

Lisa, Truly sorry to hear of your loss. Praying you find some comfort, as I did, knowing your parents are reunited for eternity. The short time of pain this side of Heaven doesn’t compare to the joy forever that awaits. You’ve always been blessed in this life, and will continue to be. Godspeed in your time of healing. Praying for your family.

Debra, Lisa, Charla and families,
My heart is so heavy with grief, I know the pain firsthand. Janice was so much fun and I have such fond memories of her from when we all worked together. Know that God holds you in His hands as I hold you in my thoughts and prayers.

Lisa, Debra, Charla there are no words I can say to comfort what you must be feeling. She will be watching her family from heaven; instead of here. She has no pain just glory. God Bless

Debra and Ronald, so very sorry to hear of your loss. I was so fortunate to have attended many events were she played and called her myself to schedule her to play for events that Amana had. Everyone loved listening to her play and she truly made a difference. Love to you all.
