Funeral services for James Clinton Bell, age 84 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Bell passed away Thursday evening in Huntsville Hospital.
He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Sam and Minnie Carter Bell. Mr. Bell was employed by Serbin Fashions for 43 years, Gerald’s Foodland for more than 20 years and was a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his son Danny Bell and wife Moneca of Hernando, MS and two grandchildren Dan David and Jon Morgan Bell, Linda Adcox, Jeff and Kara Krinks and Kaitlyn and Ethan Krinks.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening 6-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

I will certainly miss the smiling face of Mr. Bell. He was certainly one of the most friendly people I’ve ever known, and those of us in my family who worked with him at Gerald’s Foodland will always remember him fondly!

There’s surely a lot of rejoicing going on in Heaven right now! Uncle Bud has been re-united with his beloved Sandra and all his brothers and sisters and Mom and Dad. He lost his dad when he was very young, so he never knew him. What a wonderful time they all must be having today. I sure will miss him, but I do have faith in our Lord and Saviour, and I know one day I’ll see him again. Until then, I’m keeping him in my heart and mind. I love you, Uncle Bud. Danny and Family – I am so sorry for your loss. I certainly will miss seeing Jim at the store and I am sure there are many, many people that will miss him being there. He was such a good man. Thinking of you and your family at this time. I know it is comforting to you to know that he is for sure in heaven with his Maker.

My only connection with Mr. Bell was thru Gerald’s Foodland–Mr. Bell did not know me by name. I was just a customer at the store, but he always was so friendly and nice.
I knew the last time I saw him that it might be the last time and i gave him a little hug–with his eyes he told me that he would not be long for this world.
It’s too bad there are not more Mr. Bells in this world–he will be missed by so many people who knew him just the way I did casually.

In our world today, there are so few people who truly touch one’s life in such a sweet, true, genuine way as did Mr. Bell. He always made every member of our family feel so special; as, I am sure that he did for everyone he knew. We feel so blessed to have had him in our lives. We will miss him; but, he will always remain special to all of us.

The story was that Jimmy Bell, Charles Sarver, and Ralph Hastings all signed notes for their new homes on the same day in the 1950’s to build on Third Avenue. I have know this Christian gentleman for so many years. It was always a joy for me to see Mr. Jimmy. I never saw him without a smile and always felt better when I left him. He was a prince of a man and I have been blessed knowing him for over 50 years. It is my hope that we will meet again – don’t know when – but we will meet again some sunny day. Danny, you were blessed to have this special man as your father.

I am not sure if I have ever known or will ever know another man who was as kind and caring about his fellow man, as Mr. Jimmy Bell. Bob and I were talking about the great influence Mr. Jimmy had over so many people of all ages. I have no doubt that our Heavenly Father is well pleased with his servant, Mr. Jim. I always enjoyed Mr. Bell’s smile and soft hello’s whether at Gerald’s or Washington Street. I know the loss will leave a void, but you have wonderful memories of such a sweet man. He is singing with the angels this beautiful Sunday morning.

We were out of town and did not know about Mr. Bell’s passing. We will miss his smiling face in Gerald’s. He was always so interested in other people and always had a smile for each of us. God bless you and your family.

Mr. Bell and I used to cross paths if we were walking at the same time and sometimes at Gerald’s as well. He never hesitated to speak to me and always had a smile on his face. I appreciate the sincerity and happiness in which he dealt with the public. In reading the tributes that people have written, what a wonderful man he was! My heartfelt sympathy to the family.
