Irene Stevenson

Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Stevenson, age 87, of Fayetteville will be conducted Saturday morning at 11AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Jones and Pastor Tommy Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery beside her husband Carl Stevenson. Mrs. Stevenson passed away Wednesday night at Lincoln Skill Care Center.
She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late William Thomas and Laura Norris Price. Mrs. Stevenson was a homemaker and  former nurse at the Lincoln County Hospital. She was also a seamstress with Jonathan Logan and Serbin Fashions and a former assembler with Space Craft International. She was a member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church and had formerly been a member of Stateline and Lincoln United Methodist Churches. She was a children’s Sunday School Teacher at the Lincoln Methodist Church for 40 years, taught Bible School, worked in Christmas Programs, formed and directed a children’s choir, and was active in all church functions.  Irene was one of the Charter Members of the Lincoln Home Demonstration club (later re-chartered as the Pea Ridge Homemakers Club), served as the President for many years and later as the Treasurer. She worked many tireless hours on club projects and activities and it was one of her greatest joys.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn (Charles) Thompson of Elkton, TN, Eloise (Ronnie) Hudgins of Fayetteville and Reba (Jimmy) Seals of Fayetteville, six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation with the family will be Friday evening 5-8pm at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church Building Fund, Riverside Christian Academy Scholarship Fund to further Christian education or the Sunrise Chapel Building Fund, P. O. Box 54 Elkton, TN.
