Helen Joyce Lutz West

Funeral service for Helen Joyce Lutz West, age 85, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at 1 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Higgins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Charity Cemetery.

Helen was born on September 4, 1934 in Louisville, KY to the late John T. and Helen Agnes Allen Lutz. She worked as a meat processor with Save-A-Lot. Mrs. West could often be found working in her flower beds and playing with her dogs. She loved the Lord and enjoyed attending church and reading her Bible. Helen was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Fayetteville and also attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jeffersonville, IN. Mrs. West passed away on December 6, 2019 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Survivors include her children, Steven Eugene West, Eugene Thomas (Vicky) West, Jeana Marie (Steve Teal) Moser, Anna Helene (Billy) Rhodes, and Tina Mary Atchley all of Fayetteville; a sister, Viola “Ginger” McCarty of Louisville, KY; and 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Eugene West, sister, Gloria Burress; and grandchildren, Chad Atchley and Teresa Sims.

Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Higgins Funeral Home. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Helen Joyce Lutz West.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. Nanny was a very strong woman for sure .. I have many memories of her in Indiana along with Tennessee.. I know all of y’all have a lifetime of memories that never will be forgotten.. She is now in a much better and beautiful place with our Heavenly Father..
