Guy Forrest Wade

Mr. Guy Forrest Wade of the Howell Community passed away, at age 83, on January 14, 2018 at his farm surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Higgins Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Higgins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Wade was born on January 13, 1935 to the late Eugene Higgins and Josephine Taylor Wade. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant. He then worked for over 40 years at Chrysler Corporation as a Quality Engineering Manager. He was a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church, lifelong farmer in the Howell Community, and cherished caring for his family and friends. Many knew him as “Daddy Guy,” which began as a name the grandchildren fondly called him, but ultimately symbolizes the truly selfless husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend that he was.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Halcomb Wade; daughters, Vicki Wade and her husband Greg Pamplin, Lana Vanhooser and her husband Keith, and Genie Wade all of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Lawryn Bevels, Bethany, Will and Guy Vanhooser; and a sister, Jo Lynn Taylor of Clarksville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wade was preceded in death by his brothers, Ellis T. and Walter H. Wade; and sisters, Ruth W. Smith, Glyndon W. Johnston, and Merle W. Haynes.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to a charity of choice. Higgins Funeral Home in Fayetteville, TN is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Guy Forrest Wade.

Guy was a nice Southern Gentleman. He was a member of the Class of 1953. My grandchildren and his were friends and some times we would talk about old times when we picked up our children. He will be missed. He always had something nice to say when I would see him at Wal Mart and ask about our friends. Betty and Girls you are in my Prayers. Joyce

So sorry for this families loss. I went to school with Sandra Halcomb who was the sister of Mr. Wade’s wife. This was one great family and my prayers go out to them in this loss of one special man!

Betty and children and Jo Lynn-Sorry and saddened to hear of Guy’s passing. Mother, Frances Wilson Parks, spoke so often of all the Wade cousins so I did keep up with most of you. Love and sympathy to all, Martha Ellen
