It is with regret we announce the death of Gracie Louise McAlister Drennon, age 89 of Ardmore, TN, who passed away Tuesday morning at Bailey Manor in Fayetteville. Mrs.Drennon was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late John William and Agnes Moore McAlister. She was a retired teacher and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Drennon was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Quilters Guild.
Survivors include a son Floyd Bennett Drennon and wife Roselle of Millbrook, AL two daughters Donna Barber and husband Joe of Blanche, Dailia Adams and husband Rabun of Petersburg, grandson Michael Drennon and wife Jennifer of Tampa, FL, two granddaughters Melanie Wright and husband Jason of Petersburg, Misty Ratliff and husband Nathan of Chapel Hill, TN, five great-grandchildren Cara Galyon, Garrett Wright, Nolan Wright, Emma-Claire Wright, Royce Drennon and one sister Anna Marshall of Fayetteville. Mrs. Drennon was preceded in death by her husband Forrest Drennon.
Visitation with Mrs. Drennon’s family will be Saturday February 23rd from 1-4 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.

We want you to know that it was an honor to have known Mrs. Drennon. Mike enjoyed his visits with her when he mowed her yard. One Christmas she made us the most delicious Hummingbird Cake. We send our love, prayers and sympathy. Gracie was special in so many ways. To us, she was a very important part of the TTFA. She is missed more than words can express.
My own memories of her were her smile and her willingness to help her fellow man. I don’t believe I ever saw her without a smile on her face and I never asked her to take on a job within the TTFA that she said no.
She can now be at peace and with her beloved Forrest.

Dear Cousins,
Years ago we would take Eddie and Ethel down to visit with Gracie and Forrest from time to time. Gracie was always so very kind to all of us, but especially to my grandparents. They thought the world of her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all now and in the coming days.
