It is with regret we announce the death of Garry Gordon Reavis, age 65, of Fayetteville who passed away Tuesday morning at his residence. He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the the late Leslie Gordon Reavis and Sybil Leatherwood Reavis Whitaker who survives. Mr. Reavis was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 101st Airborne Special Forces during the Vietnam War. He was a former owner of the Huntsville Engine Performance Center and Gary Reavis Engines where he was a race engine manufacturer.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of forty-five years Linda Barnes Reavis, brother Terry Reavis and wife Bonnie and nieces Nicole and Allison Reavis all of Fayetteville.
There will be a memorial service held March 24, 2012, 10:30 am at Prospect Baptist Church.

I am truly sorry for your sudden loss, manny times I thought about driving up to Tenn to see Gary and Terry, but as most of us do we all feel that we have plenty of time. Gary was a true friend in my days of racing and went out of his way to help me thru the hurdles of getting my car running and guided me on learing to drive. Again I am very sorry to hear this news and wish God guidance in the coming weeks.

We are shocked and saddened over Garry’s death. Our thoughts and prayers are with you now. How fortunate you both were to have each other for 45 years. I know Garry was your best friend too.
Gary and I are glad we were able to spend some time with you both in the last few years. We only wish it could have been more.

I was so shocked and sadden to hear of Garry’s passing. We haven’t seen much of each other in years, but time and distance does not erase the love I had in my heart for you. I will always remember the times we had playing together. R.I.P. cousin. My prayers are with Linda, Aunt Sybil and TG.

I was a shocked like everyone else to hear of Garry passing. He was always one of them “go to” people when I needed help with something. We just take for granted they will always be around. Words cannot start to describe the impact that Garry and Terry have had on my life. Garry will be sadly missed by many. He leaves behind many friends and loved ones that had a tremendous respect and admiration for the man, his personality and work ethic.

So sorry to hear of Garry’s sudden death. He was such a friendly man every time I was around him. He always had a big smile on his face.
I know you will miss him terribly. I pray that God will put His loving arms around you and comfort you through this very difficult time.
If I can help you in any way, please let me know. I will be thinking of you often and will call to check on you. There will always be a part of your heart missing, but it will get a little easier as time goes by. Just stay around your loved one and friends. They will help you a lot.
