Fredna June Smith

Funeral services for Fredna June Smith, age 65 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Friday at 2 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Young and Eddie Graves officiating. Burial will follow in Flintville Cemetery. Miss Smith passed away Tuesday night in Lincoln Medical Center.

Miss Smith was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late Fred T. and Edith June Rogers Smith. She retired from Lincoln Medical Center after 46 years of service, was a member of Leadership Lincoln, the Host of Christmas Past and the Lincoln Health Systems Foundation. Miss Smith was a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter Kala Dawn Eakes of Fayetteville, granddaughter Katelyn Danielle Eakes of Fayetteville, three brothers, Kenneth Smith (Evelyn), Dennis Smith (Paulette) and Rickey Smith (Shirley) all of Fayetteville, nieces and nephews Terri Schwierling, Scott Smith (Pam), Christy Weir (Tim) Jessica Helton (Randy), great-nephew Ryan Weir.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death a grandson Garrett Kaleb Eakes and nephew Chadwell Lee Smith.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Kala, I am so sorry to learn of your Mom’s passing! I knew from your FB postings she had been ill and I’m so sorry for your loss! She always had a smile on her face and I always enjoyed running in to her and chatting a bit.

We have truly enjoyed knowing your wonderful mother and working with her, Dennis at the hospital and me on Host of Christmas Past Committee. She was very dedicated and loved serving the community. She will be greatly missed by the people she worked with, the community and certainly by you, your daughter and the rest of her family.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Freda. She was a dear friend for many years. The lady I knew was truly a dear friend to everyone she met. God Bless you all and bless you with the sweet memories of Freda.

Dear family members, I worked with Fredna at the hospital many years ago in the office, she was so enjoyable to work with and even though I have not seen her for a while I still think of her. She will be greatly missed.

Kala, I was so sorry to learn of Fredna passing. We started working together at the hospital in our early 20’s. We were always great friends. She will be missed by so many. You and your family have my deepest sympathy.

I am so sorry to hear to hear of Ms. Fredna’s passing. I was in Leadership Lincoln with Ms. Fredna and we always enjoyed being together. Her smile always brightened my day. Heaven has truly received a most precious angel.

Kala and family, we are so sorry and surprised to learn of the passing of Fredna. We spent many hours with her and your family during the time we kept our horse at your grandfather’s farm. We will continue to keep you in our prayers and thoughts.
