Frann Edward Clark

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Frann Edward Clark, age 78, of Murfreesboro, TN, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at NHC in Murfreesboro.

Born on November 26, 1946, in Tupelo, Mississippi, Ed was the son of the late Oliver Edward Clark and Mae Dell Sanderson Clark. He was a graduate of Montevallo High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University in Alabama.

Ed shared a beautiful and devoted 51-year marriage with his late wife, Mary Linda Maddox Clark. Professionally, he dedicated 22 years to Lifeway, retiring as the respected Director of Human Resources.

After hanging up his HR hat, Ed didn’t slow down; he traded office life for the dance floor, enjoying ballroom dancing. He was also a loyal Alabama fan—Roll Tide!—a passion he never let anyone forget. Above all else, Ed treasured his role as “Papa Ed” to his beloved grandson, Jasper.

Ed is survived by his loving son, Jonathan Edward Clark and his wife, Megan Browning Clark, of Murfreesboro; his adored grandson, Jasper Clark; his brother, Thomas Daniel Clark, and his nieces and nephews: April (Jeremy) Birchfield, Thomas (Shea) Clark, Robby (Amanda) Clark, and Cameron Clark.

A private inurnment service will take place at a later date at Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale, Alabama.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Frann Edward Clark.

I’m so saddened to see that my friend has passed. My husband and I first met Ed at the Ryman for a Tedeschi Trucks concert. We had the pleasure of seeing him every year for the annual concert series I will always treasure my memories of Ed. What a wonderfully kind man he was. I send my sincere condolences to his family that he adored.

I worked with Ed at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. We became good friends and remained friends for many years. I came to visit Ed in Murfreesboro but he was in the hospital very ill. Ed and I fished together and he was my teacher as I was a beginning fisherman .
Ed was of strong faith in our Lord and because of that I admired him even more. His wife Linda unfortunately passed away some years ago leaving him very sad.
My friend was extremely intelligent. I would often just sit and listen to his stories as they were very entertaining.
Ed’s love for his son, daughter in law and he adored his grandson Jasper. Every conversation we had Jasper and Ed’s son Jonathan was generally the first subject we talked about.
I dearly loved Ed and after the death of his wife I was deeply concerned about his well being. But, Ed handled his loss quite well.
Ed loved music. He was a huge fan of The Tedeshi Trucks Band and soon I became a fan after hearing his fondness of the band.
Rest in peace my friend. You will never be forgotten by me. I’m positive Ed and Linda have reunited in Heaven along with his parents.
