Frances Areneva Smith Pigg

 

It is with regret we announce the death of Frances Areneva Smith Pigg, who passed away at the Lincoln Care Center on December 2, 2016, at the age of 97. Areneva was born on July 27, 1919, in Lincoln County, TN. A loving wife and mother, she was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship Church of Christ.

Areneva was the daughter of the late Thad and Sadie Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Woodard Pigg; brothers, Luther, Leon, Harold and James Smith; sisters, Lois Ramsey, Mary Davis, Willie Mae Bell, and Christine Walker. Areneva is survived by her children, Hubert Woodard (Woody) Pigg, Jr. (Pamela), Jolene Crabtree (Randall), Janice Mankin (Lonnie), and Beth Pigg; grandchildren, Charles, Kathryn, and Rachel Pigg, Rick and Mike Crabtree, Jennifer Pagel (Jason), Nathan Mankin (Laura), David Mankin, Jonathan Mankin (Heather); great grandchildren, Noah, Luka, and Sadie Pagel, Emma Mankin, and Brooks Mankin; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Pagel, Randall Crabtree, and Bro. Ellis Coats officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Orchard Cemetery in Petersburg, TN.
Visitation with the family will be 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Higgins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Friendship Church of Christ c/o Randall Crabtree 79 Haysland Road, Petersburg, TN 37144.

Her children would like to thank the health care workers at Southern Manor and Lincoln Care Center for their loving care of their mother over the last few years. A special thanks goes to her loving sitters and caregivers, Pattie Kosik and Carole Whitted.
