Floyd Wilson Price

Mr. Floyd Wilson Price went to meet our Lord, Monday evening (June 29, 2009) in Nashville, TN.  Mr. Price enlisted in the Navy in January 1955, and served in USS Yorktown (CVS-10), U. S. Naval Air Station Barin Field, Foley, Alabama, Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and nine Years in Antarctic Air Development Squadron SIX (VXE-6) which was home based in Quonset Point, Rhode Island, and deployed annually to Antarctica, serving as the Senior Personnel Assistant.  He was recognized for his accomplishments and contributions to the Antarctic Research Program by having a Peak named for him in the Antarctic, Known as “Price’s Peak”.  Prior to his retirement in March 1975 he served as Personnel Administration Officer at the Navy Recruiting Station, Nashville, Tennessee, attaining the rate of Master Chief Personnelman.  He was a partner in Plantlan, a plant store and greenhouse on Thompson Lane in Nashville, TN.  He was men’s Clothing Department Supervisor at Castner Knott’s in Harding Mall and Hickory Hollow Mall in Nashville for 15 years.  He belongs to the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 110, was a Master Mason of Washington Lodge #5, AF&AM, Warrick, Rhode Island, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite mason, Providence, RI and member of the Al Menah Shrine Temple, in Nashville.  Mr. Price was preceded in death by his parents Byrd and Lucy Price, brothers Jack, John Robert and Leslie Price, sisters Mildred Price, Thelma Street, Ruby Koonce, Inez Stephenson and Estelle Bell.  He is survived by one brother Earl Price of Fayetteville, TN and sisters Rachel Bliss of Hammond, IN, Byrdie Dudley of Huntsville, AL, Wilma Golden of Fayetteville, Louise May of Howell Hill, TN and Bonnie Humphrey of Howell Hill, TN.., several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and a special friend and shipmate Rick Perez of Nashville, TN.

Graveside services will be held at 2PM Thursday at Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens In Fayetteville with Rev. Kirk Smith officiating.  There will be no visitation at the funeral home prior to graveside services.
