Evelyn Askins Brown, born Sunday September 22, 1940 (age 84+), daughter of Owen Little and Christine Ashby Askins passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
She was the example of a Proverbs 31 woman with her faith in God being the most important part of her life followed by devotion to family. She was never happier than when family was together making memories.
A lifelong resident of Tennessee, Evelyn graduated from Moore County High School in 1958 as the class Salutatorian. Fittingly she was a lover of knowledge and an avid researcher of her family ancestry. She was a member of Liberty Church of Christ and retired from the Accounting Department of Fayetteville Public Utilities.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband John Marion Brown; sisters, Roberta Smith and Jean Woodard; nephews, Little Fulton Smith and Bobby Terrell “Terry” Smith. She is survived by her daughter Denise Brown Taylor and husband David, grandsons Jonathan William Owen Taylor and Major Taylor, and granddaughter Meredith Askins Taylor as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In accordance with her wishes, a private burial service was held at Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored by donations made in her memory to Rainbow Omega, Inc. in Eastaboga, Alabama or Isaiah 41:10 Foundation.
Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Evelyn Askins Brown.

Denise. We are so sorry about your mom. She was a good person and a wonderful neighbor. Have many good memories of her and your Dad. Enjoyed all our talks “over the fence” and our visits and phone calls in later years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Brenda and Terry Gibson

Denise and family, We are so sorry about Sister Evelyn’s passing. We had tried to call her recently with no response. She was a dear, sweet Christian lady.. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. We all loved her and missed her after she could not attend worship with us at Liberty. Our love, Bob and Wanda Williams
