Emma Frances Morris, age 86 of Fayetteville, Tennessee passed away on July 29, 2020. Frances was born on April 1, 1934 in Sumter, South Carolina, the daughter of Everett Lee Morris and Goldie Jarrell Morris. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Thomas Douthard Morris; her son Thomas “Alan” Morris; brothers Everett Lee Morris, Jr., Frank Othellis Morris, Homer Louis Morris, and a sister Vera Morris Goody.
Frances is survived by several nieces and nephews: Arcadia Lynn “Katy” Greenawalt, Everett “Lee” Morris III, David Michael “Mike” Morris, Elaine Morris-Moxness, Wendell LeVern Morris, Barry Lynn Morris, Leslie Cassandra Morris Bruce, Thomas Dale Morris, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She is also survived by her “adopted” grandsons, Jason and Nathan Daugherty; sister-in-law Nellie and husband LC Daugherty; brother-in-law Bill and wife Peggy Ward and daughter, Lisa Stroh; and loving and faithful friends, Evelyn Smith and Barbara Patten, who surrounded her with love throughout her illness.
Frances was a member of the Lincoln County Piecemakers Quilt Guild and an outstanding quilter. She won several Best of Show Ribbons at the Lincoln County Fair and the Golden Needle Ribbon Award at the Tennessee Association of Fairs. Frances had a lifelong passion for baseball and was an ardent fan of the Atlanta Braves. Spring and summer she watched Braves games every night on TV, knew all the players’ names and endless statistics, and also attended many games in Atlanta with friends and family. Frances was a wonderful cook and baker, world-famous for her strawberry and coconut cakes. She worked at Serbin Fashions Inc. in Fayetteville for many years before retiring.
Frances was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Moore County where she was dearly and deeply loved and respected. She was very active in her Service to the Lord. Frances was a Godly woman and known as the Rock for all that knew her. She was a devoted and constant friend to all and was loved by many folks all across the United States. Frances will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Waggoner Cemetery adjacent to Friendship Methodist Church at 2934 Booneville Highway, Fayetteville, Tennessee 37334 (located within Metro Lynchburg city limits) with Reverend David Adams officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church or to Waggoner Cemetery c/o Harlan Sanders, 805 Fayetteville Hwy, Lynchburg TN 37352.

I first met Frances at the Patrick Wellness Center in our water aerobic class many years ago. What a special and fun lady she was. May God Bless & keep her.

Mrs. Frances and I went to the Patrick and did water aerobics together for several years. She became a dear friend and role model to me. I will miss her a lot. Martha Wolf

I met Frances through quilting. She was so kind, had a great sense of humor and a sweet spirit. I will definitely miss seeing her but know we’ll cross paths again one day. Dance with the angels dear Frances.

Loved this lady. Met her some time back through our sew day on the first Friday at Prospect Baptist Church. Absolutely the BEST quilter I have ever known. Had a good sense of humor & loved everyone who crossed paths with her. I learned a lot from her about quilting . I loved her & will truly miss her.

One could not ask for a better neighbor. She shared her delicious cakes with me many times. She was not an outdoor person but called me many times to thank me for the view of my garden, which she enjoyed from her kitchen window. I will miss our back yard talks.

I met Mrs Frances at Patrick. We did water aerobics together. She was a very sweet and kind person. We talked about flowers all the time. I will miss her. Praying for your family.

Right when I was born, my great great aunt Frances was there to meet me. I enjoyed getting to see her every so once and a while, and remember seeing her at funerals. She was very sweet to me, and I loved trying her yummy treats. I really will miss her!

Frances and Tom were dear friends of our family. I will always treasure my memories of Frances’s infectious smile and laugh and her zest for life. She will be greatly missed.

Frances was one of my favorite people. She always kept up with all of us Ward children. She was compassionate, supportive, and loved everyone. Had a heart of gold. Best cook around. I will always cherish my memories of time spent talking with her. Will miss you and your wonderful laughter, Frances!!

Our sympathies go out to all of the family and friends of Mrs. Frances. Con and I loved her, and we always delighted in seeing her when our paths crossed. She was so caring, and she had the wonderful ability to make everyone feel like long-time friends. Heaven has gained another angel.

My Aunt Francis was a very sweet woman. In her Christmas card every year she enclosed a letter about her year. I will so miss those letters.

Frances was so wonderful to take me to have my quilts assembled. I enjoyed the many lunches we had when making those trips. She was a great source of knowledge regarding the quilting guild, and her friendship meant a lot to me. I will miss her very much.

Emma Frances, Rest In Peace my dear cousin. Even though we met only twice in this life I knew you were very special. My mom, your Auntie Ruth, was extremely fond of you. Now you are in heaven with her.
