Emma Bennett Stewart

Emma worked as a seamstress for Serbin, Jonathan Logan, and Lee Company. She was an amazing seamstress, who was known as the “Dress Lady”, in one year she made over 75 wedding and bridesmaid dresses, all of her beads and lace were sewn by hand as she believed they looked better than being machine sewn. She loved to bake and was well known for her coconut cake and orange cookies. She was a member of the Corders Crossroads Church of Christ.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her daughters, Paula Stewart Hill of Fayetteville and Linda Fay Stewart of Flintville; grandchildren Matt (Heather) Hill and Lori Hill (Steve) Orth; great grandchildren, Anna Hill, Justin Hill, Davis Orth, Park Orth, Wyatt Woolsey, and Waylon Woosley; and numerous nieces and nephews; and her furry friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Stewart; brothers, Harce, Charlie, Hugh, and Clyde Bennett; sister, Ola Mae Bennett; and grandson, Mark Hill.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30PM on Sunday, May 31 at Riverview Memorial Gardens, with Bro. Chris Cole officiating.

So sorry for the great loss of a beautiful, beautiful Christian lady and aunt both inside and outside. She was so good to everyone that she came into contact with throughout her life—always doing for others and spreading her smile and laugh, and we were on the receiving end many times over. Our family has the most wonderful memories of her. May you, Paula, Linda, and family find peace and comfort as you adjust to changes in the days ahead. We love you all! Linda, I am so sorry to hear of Ms. Emma passing away. I will repeat what many have already said, “She was the sweetest lady.” She was so kind with a beautiful soul. I enjoyed sitting with her those times I came out and chatting. She was full of love for her family and loved her Church. It takes a while to adjust to life without a mother. But as time goes by, you will learn to deal with a life without her.
I don’t really think we are totally without them. My mother is forever embedded in my heart. You are strong like your mama and you will find your way. God Bless you, Always!
