Graveside services for Mr. Elmo Buttrey “Tuffy” Walp, age 89, of Elora will be
conducted Wednesday at 11AM at the Elora Cemetery with Rev. Milton Martin and Rev. Malcolm Gardner officiating. Mr. Walp passed away Monday May 31st at his residence.
Higgins Funeral Home is in charge of services.
He was a native of Dickson County, TN but had lived in Lincoln County since 1950. Mr. Walp was son of the late Benjamin Earl and Almedie Buttrey Walp, a veteran of WW II and retired from L&N Railroad after 44 years of service.
Survivors include his wife Velma Lee Hargrove Walp of Elora, children Dianne (Tim) Sumners of Fayetteville, Michael Walp of Elora, Debbie (Jack) Stone of Flintville and Darrell (Renea) Walp of Kelso, grandchildren Keri Smith, Tom Delap, Laura Beth Quick, Lucas Stone, Nicholas Walp, Ethan Walp, Ben Walp and seven great-grandchildren, sister Francis O’Dell of MI. He was preceded in death by brothers Loyd Walp, Ben Walp, Jewel Walp, Wilson Walp and sister Corrine Walp, daughter-in-law Lili Walp and granddaughter Tammy Delap.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospital Home Health and Hospice, 1797 Wilson Parkway, Fayetteville, TN 37334
