Memorial services for Edward (Ed) Biggers Young, III, will be Sunday at 2PM at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Tommy Ward officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Young, a native of Lincoln County, passed away at the Donalson Care Center on 17 November. He was the son of the late James Beverly Young, Sr., and Sarah Buchanan Young. He was an active member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. Mr. Young attended Vanderbilt University where he pledged Sigma Nu fraternity, and graduated from Martin College. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Mr. Young started his business life as manager of the Mutual Funds Department of the State Street Bank and Trust in Boston, Massachusetts. He held various positions in several cities, and took pleasure and pride in being Purchasing Director of Nashville Plastics Products prior to his move to the Atlanta office of MIS Associates in Atlanta. He was in Customer Relations with Publix Supermarkets, and was currently an insurance advisor with Cornerstone Senior Company.
Survivors include one sister, Catherine (Kate) White Young of Fayetteville, and two older brothers: James Beverly Young, Jr. and wife Helen Jackson Young of Carlisle, Mass., and Robert Buchanan Young and wife Mary Florence Young of Nashville; two nieces: Juliet Latigne Young of Nairobi, Kenya, and Sarah Buchanan Young of Warwick, Rhode Island; one nephew Mark Buchanan Young of Nashville, one great niece, Kathryn Young, and two great nephews, Zachery Buchanan Young and Caleb Young, all of Nashville.
The family requests that contributions be made to the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church Building fund. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 4 to 7 at Higgins Funeral Home.

certainly sorry to learn of ed’s illness and passing…i have many happy memories of our family’s growing up as neigbors years ago on swanson…my thoughts are with you all during the upcoming days as you deal with these sudden events of the past month or so….best wishes

It is with sadness that I send you this note. I remember your brother only slightly, but I certainly remember your Dad and Mom. I too, am a member of the Sons Of The
American Revolution and all members or compatriots are dear to each of us.
Rest assured that he is in the safe arms of our creator and GOD and that he is at peace with all mankind.

It was great to re-establish connections with Ed at our Class of 61 breakfasts and other activities. Ed was a nice guy during our time at Central and an even nicer person after his career brought him back to Fayetteville. We’ll miss him greatly.

Sorry to read of Ed’s passing. I ran into Ed from time to time in Nashville as we both worked there. The last time I ran into Ed was at Publix in Hendersonville, TN. Please accept my condolences.

I have so many fond memories of Ed as we grew up together and played baseball for many years.
I am very sorry for your loss, but know you must have a wealth of wonderful memories to sustain you during this very difficult time.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Young family.
It is with a smile I remember my very first date my high school freshman year; Ed and I double dated with you, Bob, and your steady date, Catherine. I never was quite sure who was more nervous, Ed or I. (But he never asked for a second date!)
Ed always had a smile for everyone, and I am greatly saddened to learn of his illness and death. My love to his precious family.

Dear Bev, Bob, Kate and families,
We were so sad to hear of Ed’s illness and death. His visits to be with us during my Dad’s illness were a lot of comfort to us all. We sensed his deep desire to bring each of us (including my Dad) a part of calm and peace.
We will never forget his care for each of us during that tough time in our lives. Ed and my Daddy, Wayne had experienced a close friendship that genuinely showed at that time. He also kept in touch with my Sister, Jane when ever he saw her about town to offer comfort.
May God be with you as you say good-bye to Ed this week. He will surely be missed by his family, friends and his church family. We join you by saying “Thank you dear God for his life”.

Young family – We are so sorry for your loss. We pray that you will find comfort in the fact that Ed has gone on to be with his Creator! Ed was a very nice person and we enjoyed seeing him over the last few months at the Class breakfasts.

It is with deep sorrow that I and the Class of ’61 feel at the loss of a classmate. I enjoyed seeing Ed at the class breakfasts and at Wal-Mart while he working to help others. His loss will be felt by many.
