Edna “Gay” Jennings Goodin

It is with regret we announce the passing of Mrs. Edna “Gay” Jennings Goodin. Gay was born on April 14, 1932 in Lincoln County, Tennessee to the late James Loton and Gladys Marie Wright Jennings. Mrs. Goodin passed away on October 26, 2019 at Huntsville Hospital.

Gay earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Middle Tennessee State College (now known as Middle Tennessee State University). She was a music teacher throughout Middle Tennessee and loved to play the piano. Gay was also a vocal soloist for many congregations in Nashville and Murfreesboro. She retired as a Pre-kindergarten teacher with Saint Michael’s Academy in Bryan-College Station, Texas. Gay was an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Glen Earl Goodin; daughters, Melanie Goodin and Mandy Goodin all of Fayetteville, TN; sisters, Jane (John) Cunningham of Bethesda, MD, and Mary Rutledge of Huntsville, AL; nieces, Tricia (Rick) Cunningham-Schulz, and Jan Rutledge; and nephews, John (Daphne) Cunningham, and Ed (Natalie) Rutledge.

Visitation with the family will be from 12 PM until 2 PM on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Higgins Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Vann officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.

Such great memories spending time together with Aunt Gay and Uncle Glen. The Zoo. Loved being with my cousins. Praise God for the memories.
