Duane A. Black

Funeral services for Mr. Duane A. Black, age 74 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Tuesday morning at 10 AM at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Stateline Cemetery. Mr. Black passed away Sunday in the Huntsville Hospital.
A native of Atkinson, Illinois Mr. Black was the son of the late Maurice and Ruth Nickerson Black and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired Mechanical Engineer who worked in many areas of the printed circuit industry. Mr. Black served as President of the Republican Party of Lincoln County and was a member of the Elks. He enjoyed aviation and model aviation and was a member of the North Alabama Radio Control Association, and the Tennessee Valley Aviators. He also served his community as a member of the City Planning Commission, and as a member of the Citizen’s Committee to Study and Recommend the form of Government. Mr. Black was a member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church where he served as the chairman of the finance committee and church treasurer.
Survivors include his wife Sarah Wraight Black of Fayetteville, one daughter: Cynthia Penrod and husband Lonnie of Indian Mound, TN, one son: David Black and wife Brenda of Broomfield, Colorado, and four grandchildren: Christopher Penrod, Ecaterina Penrod, Haley Black and Benjamin Black.
Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 5-8 PM at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church building fund or to the American Kidney Foundation.
