Donald Woodrow Kidd

Graveside funeral service for Mr. Donald Woodrow Kidd, age 85, will be conducted, Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 1:30pm at Flintville Cemetery with Bro. Tim Hall officiating. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Higgins Funeral Home.

Mr. Kidd was born May 30, 1935 in Dyer County, TN to the late Woodrow and Alline Sykes Kidd. Donald was a veteran of the United States Army and played semi-professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals organization. He moved to Fayetteville and began working at National Can before he moved on to began his career at Amana, where he was issued clock number 1, which he considered an honor to hold. He was an outdoorsman and an avid fisherman all his life. He enjoyed traveling to watch his grandchildren participate in all of their activities and supported them in all their endeavors. He was an active member of the Howell Hill Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Doris Bruce Kidd of Fayetteville; son Mac (Dawn) Kidd of Fayetteville; daughter LaDonna (Scott) Thrasher of Flintville; grandchildren Skyler (Shayna) Kidd of Fayetteville, Clint (Marley) Thrasher of Flintville, and Shelby (Marshall) Wix of Spring Hill, TN; Sister-in-law Mary Agnes Bruce; niece Susie (Bob) Moyes all of Kimball, TN; niece Maxine (Larry) Snell of Madison, AL; and special “adopted” son Mike Raby of Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Howell Hill Church of Christ Building Fund, 472 Old Lincoln Road, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Donald Woodrow Kidd.

In accordance with State of Tennessee Executive Order issued by Governor Bill Lee, social gatherings are limited to no more than 50 participants. Doris, Mac and Ladonna…I am so sorry to be reading this, I am just finding out. The Kidd family has always felt like my distance family. Days will be difficult for you and they say time will heal but it hasn’t for me. Mac and Ladonna, be strong for your mother because she will need you the most during this time and forward.
