Deloris Hargrove Hammel

Funeral service for Mrs. Deloris Hargrove Hammel, age 81, of Ardmore, TN, will be conducted at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, TN with Rev. Jason Terhune officiating. Burial will follow in Blanche Cemetery.

Deloris was born on July 25, 1937 in Cash Point, TN to the late Allison and Geneva Hargrove. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church. She loved watching all SEC sports especially the Lady Vols. Needy children held a special place in her heart as she helped many of them over her lifetime. Mrs. Hammel passed away on April 24, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Richard K. Hammel; daughter, Melissa “Missy” Hammel of Ardmore, TN; granddog, Elrod; brothers, Garon (Lana) Hargrove and Tommy (Aline) Hargrove all of Ardmore, TN; and special nieces, Dana Rhinehart, Ghana Hargrove, Tana Hargrove and Tammy Walls. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Jackie Kelly.

Visitation with the family will be held at 5 PM until 7 PM on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Higgins Funeral Home in Fayetteville, TN. Higgins is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Hammel.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, ATTN Rector’s Discretionary Fund, PO Box 150, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

The Ardmore Public Library and I are so sorry to hear of your loss. You have been a great daughter to both of your parents and I hope that you can find comfort in that.

You must know I’m devastated–brokenhearted. She was my dear friend, chosen sister and best cheerleader–so blessed to have had her presence in my life these many years. Just know that I feel your loss. Love you.
