Dearest Darrell, your battle is finally over. You are now at home with your Mother and Jesus. What joy you must be experiencing. You will be missed, here on earth. You touched so many lives and you were a walking testimony for the Lord. May God give Uncle Bob, Mark and most of all, your loving wife, Janet and children peace and may he bless them with precious memories. Thank you for blessing my life.

Janet, Russell, & Jennifer,
Oh the memories I have of Darrell — there are too many to mention in this small space. All the things he has done for my four children through 4-H and even after 4-H, the help with Dairy Day for so many years, the personal encouragement I received from him, and the list could go on. I know I am a better person for having known Darrell Hale. Heaven is rejoicing right now, they have a new angel on board. I pray for comfort for your family. Remember Darrell was so loved and so are all of you.
God Bless you,
Dora Barnes

Janet,
I am so sad for you to hear of Darrell’s passing, but I am glad that he is home now. I treasure your friendship from days of yore in old District IV and from attending your wedding. I enjoyed having Russell and Jennifer in the 4-H Personal Development project. It has been a blessing to have connections with you for all of these years. Your family is a great role model to the citizens of Tennessee.

Darrell was one of those special people who had an impact on countless lives over the years. I admired, from afar, for many years, the work he did for his clientele. Even though I worked for Extension in the Western Region, I was aware of his many accomplishments. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

To Darrell’s Family
I won’t be able to attend Darrell’s memorial service since I’m still not getting out of the house following my surgery, but, I wanted to let you know that you are all in my thoughts & prayers.
When I found the following poem, I thought of Darrell and of all of you. I hope it brings you some small comfort as you take one step at a time toward healing. Just remember that the legacy of Darrell’s life will live on in the memories of all those whose lives he touched.
“He Only Takes the Best”
God saw that he was getting tired,
A cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him
and whispered, “Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer,
And saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes “the best”.
