Clay McAlister

Clay McAlister of Pulaski passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in Vanderbilt Medical Center, Nashville, TN. He was born on June 5, 1945 in Lincoln County and was 69 years old. He was with the City Police Dept. in Lewisburg in the late 1960’s. In 1970 he was hired by the Tennessee Highway Patrol and stationed in Wayne County. In 1976 he transferred to Giles County until he retired in 2000 after 31 years in law enforcement. He also had a locksmith service in Giles County and also served as Judicial Magistrate in Giles County. He was a member of the Wales Baptist Church. Mr. McAlister loved his wife and family and serving his community.

Visitation will be on Monday September 8th from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home in Pulaski. Visitation will be on Tuesday September 9th from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home in Fayetteville. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Bro. Kevin Wells officiating at Higgins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Fayetteville, Tennessee.

Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9908.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl McAlister and Annie Monks McAlister and grandson William McAlister.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Judy Sue Risner McAlister of Pulaski, son Michael (Janet) McAlister of Columbia, son Chris (Kim) McAlister of Prospect, son, Jonathan (Marcie) McAlister of Fayetteville, daughter, Carlie Sue Weeks of Pulaski, daughter Autumn Sands (Hunter) Fincher of Alamo, TN, daughter Jacque Pierce of Pulaski, daughter Jana (Ricky) Haynes of Nashville, son Anthony Weeks of Tullahoma, 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brothers Bobby (Dot) McAlister of Fayetteville, Harold (Doris) McAlister of Gallatin, TN, sisters Maurine (Bill) Crabtree of Fayetteville and Fay Smith of Fayetteville, several nieces, nephews cousins and many friends. Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home of Pulaski and Higgins Funeral Home of Fayetteville in charge of arrangements for Clay McAlister.
