Charles E. Phelps

Graveside funeral service for Mr. Charles E. Phelps, age 87, of Lynchburg, TN, will be conducted at 12 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Mulberry Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at 10 AM until 11:30 AM on Saturday at Higgins Funeral Home.

Charles was born on April 14, 1932 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Floyd E. and Cora Bell Phelps. He was a member of Lois Church of Christ and The Elk River Antique Tractor Association. He worked as a farm equipment mechanic for Yearwood and was a volunteer firefighter. Mr. Phelps passed away on June 19, 2019 at St. Thomas Rutherford.

Survivors include his children, Debbie Page of Estill Springs, TN, Sandra Phelps (Dan) Freeland of Tullahoma, TN, Thomas E. (Thereasa) Phelps of Kelso, TN, and Larry Lee (Angela) Phelps of Mimosa, TN; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Stevenson Phelps, and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dellrose Volunteer Firefighter Tractor Ride, PO Box 371, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

I am so sorry to hear about your dads passing. He was always nice to me when I would I would ask him questions about some of our equipment. We will keep you all in our prayers and we all know he is in a much better place. Denise

Charles was a good example for me, a cousin 10 years his junior. We spent lots of good times milking cows, hunting rabbits, riding tractors, and generally doing farm work. He always took pride in his ability to back a 4 wheel trailer down a barn hall.

Charles you will be missed!

So sorry for your loss. I met him when he started coming to Moore County Senior Citizens Center. I enjoyed helping him with Bingo. He was there on Friday before his death. He was a very nice man and we will miss him very much..
