Dear Lisa, Todd, and Family,

During this time of immense sorrow I pray that peace will cup the heart of your family and hold it very gently. Brandon touched my heart and the hearts of many others. I will honor his memory with the knowledge that he has found eternal peace.

I remember Brandon very well from Highland Rim. He was a very sweet and funny child. He had the most beautiful eyes. I am praying for comfort for you all. God Bless.

He healeth the broken in heart, And bindeth up their wounds. (Psalm 147:3 ASV)

Words simply can’t address a pain so GREAT but God will give you the strength. I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that I am here for the entire family, if there is anything I can do!

Garrett:

I’m not sure if you remember me but I helped you when you decided to start at Motlow. Now that I am in Florida, I find myself writing you to express my sorrow for your family’s loss. While I did not personally know Brandon, many friends that did know him have spoken such kind words about him and I feel a loss that I never had the opportunity to meet him.

There is a commendation from The Book of Common Prayer (Episcopal Church) in which I find great comfort and confidence. I would like to share this with you at this time of great sorrow:

A Commendation for Brandon Lee Cobern

Depart, O Christian soul, out of this world; In the Name of God the Father Almighty who created you;
In the Name of Jesus Christ who redeemed you;
In the Name of the Holy Spirit who sanctifies you.
May your rest be this day in peace,
and your dwelling place in the Paradise of God.

Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your
servant Brandon. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive him into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.

May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

May God’s Peace embrace you and your family in the coming days and know that you, especially, are in my thoughts.

I am so sorry to hear of your sons passing. I did not know him & I do not personally know your family & frriends. However, I am a mother with a son & there are no words to express how much I love him. There are also no words to express the pain that would be in my heart if I lost him. I can’t say I know how you feel – only that I know how I would feel if I lost my own son. Rose Kennedy once said: It has been said, ” that time heals all wounds.” I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity , covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.

I agree with Mrs Kennedy. As I said, I do not know you personally but I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers. May the Lord wrap His loving arms around you & your family & friends not only during your time of loss, but forever.
Respectully, Shawn Wolaver
