Bobby Gene Barnes

Funeral service for Bobby Gene Barnes, age 84, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Alan Shedd officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.

Bobby Gene was born on January 27, 1936 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Eugene Woodard “EW” and Florence Renager Barnes. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Barnes was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church and loved hunting, fishing, golf, and operating heavy equipment. He passed away on January 9, 2021 at Elk River Health and Rehab.

Survivors include his sons, Tony Barnes of Fayetteville, Tim (Susan) Barnes of Pulaski, and Todd (Brooke) Barnes of Pulaski; grandchildren, Shane (Kristin) Barnes, Mabern (Brian) Wall, Maghan (Eric) Arnold, Katie (Alex) Comen, Ken Barnes, Payton (Erin) Barnes, and Alyssa Evans; great-grandchildren, Skyler Barnes, Austin Truett, Chelsey Barnes, PJ Mahoney, Catherine Page Arnold, Robert Wade Arnold, Grace Barnes, Mabrie Ellen Wall, Meredith Jane Wall, Clark Ray Comen, William Wyatt Barnes, Jordan Arnold, and Dora Arnold; great-great-grandchildren, Brantley Hawkins, Easton Truett, and Dawson Truett; brothers, Thomas “Tom” Barnes, Joe Barnes, and William Barnes all of Fayetteville; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Bobby Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ellen Bradford and a son, Kenneth Eugene Barnes.

Visitation with the family will be from 4 PM until 7 PM on Wednesday at Higgins Funeral Home. Those who are unable to attend the service on Thursday may tune in live on the Higgins Funeral Home website at higginsfh.com or watch a recording of the service on the obituary page for Mr. Bobby Gene Barnes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Boy Scout Troop #489, 523 Haysland Road, Fayetteville, TN 37334 or American Cancer Society-Lincoln County Chapter, c/o Cary Sullivan, P.O. Box 470, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

Bobby Jean was always so active at Beech Grove Church & he always made me feel welcome when I went. We shared great fellowship, sermons great gospel singing & wonderful food. He was dedicated & was a servant of God. Fly high to your reward to join your bride in paradise. My sympathy & prayers are for you brothers, sons & many grands. Amen!
