Graveside services for Bobbie Lois Porter Thomas, age 82 of Toney, AL will be conducted Saturday at 2 PM at Stateline Cemetery with Bro. Jeff Bennett officiating. Burial will be beside her husband Jesse C. Thomas. Mrs. Thomas passed away Wednesday in Huntsville Hospital.
She was a native of Huntsville and the daughter of the late Leon and Mattie Neal Porter. Mrs. Thomas was a former employee of Serbin, an LPN at Lincoln County Hospital and a member of the Taft First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters Sandra Sprayberry of Tioga, LA, and Polly Knox of Toney, AL eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sisters Rochelle Moore of Fayetteville, Judy Bradley of Kelso and two brothers Lawrence Porter of Fayetteville and Roy Neal Porter of Rocky Mount, NC.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Laverne Thomas, two sons Porter and John Thomas and two sisters Linda Fitch and Joyce Citty.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 12-1:30 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Lung Association.

Polly – I am so sorry for your loss. I know she has been sick for a long while and now she is at rest. You have been such a great daughter and care-taker for your mother. She was so lucky to have you to take care of her. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. BeBe.

Bobbie(Nana), you were an enormous part of my childhood. I have so many memories of growing up in the big white colonial house in Fayetteville. Memories of the chicken coup, and the chickens trying to attack when I’d go in for the eggs. Memories of looking for Easter eggs that you and Papa would hide around the yard. For my punishment, I was made to pick weeds out of the flower beds, and the god-aweful bush by the back door that was perfect for switches!! I always looked forward to the holidays when we would all sit at the dinner table as one big family! Lots of memories good and bad, but I wouldn’t trade them for anything! I am sorry that I couldn’t visit you more in my adult years, but know that you were always in my thoughts and my heart. I love you and miss you. Stephanie

I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember Bobbie smiling….and talking. She was so good to a little girl from Lincoln.
