Birdie “Betty” Elizabeth Pigg

It is with regret we announce the passing of Mrs. Birdie “Betty” Elizabeth Pigg, age 91, of Howell, TN. Betty was born on May 3, 1929 to the late James Marvin and Venie Victoria Ables Hill. She worked in Quality Control for Blue Ridge Shirt Plant and was a member of the Church of Christ at Howell. Betty loved the LORD, loved her family, and loved to cook. She passed away on October 10, 2020 at Donalson Care Center.

Survivors include her daughters, Connie Ann Sprinkle, and Brenda Sue (Sam) Ezell all of Fayetteville; son, Jody Lewis (Carol) Pigg of Columbia; grandchildren, Bobby (Tammy) Sprinkle, David (Terri) Sprinkle, Angie (Ray) McCullough, Jason Ezell, Jeremy (Juli) Ezell, Josh (Kelli) Ezell, Dinah (Alan) Hall, and Michael (Stephanie) Pigg; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Pigg; granddaughter, Sara Walker; great-granddaughter, Anna Walker; brothers, Buster and Charles Hill; and sisters, Dorothy Moran, and Mary Ann Stephens.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sara Walker Foundation, P.O. Box 3111, Brentwood, TN 37024.

Betty was such a kind and caring friend. Each time I saw her, she asked about my family and proceed to tell me she had been praying for them. I loved this lady!

And a great cook. She was blessed to have a loving family to take wonderful care of her.

Our prayer is for comfort and peace to the entire family at this time!! Mrs.Betty was a great encouragement to all and a rock of strength for those around her!! She was a great example of how a Christian should act and her words of wisdom strengthened all of our Church family at the Howell Church of Christ! It was a great honor to have her as a sister in Christ and I know it was a great honor for her to be a family member!! She passed on some amazing qualities to you all as her family and we send love your way!! Her legacy will live on in such a wonderful family!!!

We came to know her son Jody, also Carol. We shared the first few weeks of her grand daughter Sara’s life when she was born in New Zealand. We send our condolences to this lovely family.
