Billy Charles Groce

Funeral service for Mr. Billy Charles Groce, age, 78, of the Mimosa Community, will be conducted Tuesday October 18, 2022, at 2 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. James West officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens beside his wife June McGee Groce. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 12 pm until time of service at 2 pm at Higgins Funeral Home.

Billy was born October 12, 1944, in Lincoln County, TN to the late Charles B. and Mary Thelma Croney Groce. Billy received his bachelor’s degree from MTSU and master’s degree from Florida Institute of Technology in Accounting. He was the retired CFO of Lincoln Medical Facilities and retired member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants Life Member. He was a member of the Mimosa Church of Christ, and the Mimosa Community club where he dearly loved barbecuing for the Mimosa Community Club BBQ chicken suppers and family holidays. Mr. Groce passed away October 15, 2022, at Bailey Manor.

Survivors include his daughter, Cindy Groce; sisters Judy (Willie) Rives, Anita Rossnagel, Patricia Bean; brother Phillip (Phila) Groce; and sister in-law Gina Groce; aunt, Margie Croney; and many nieces and nephews and friends. Billy was preceded in death by his parents; brother; David Ray Groce; sister and brother in-law Wanda and Gene Cornelius; brother in-law Barton Rossnagel; father and mother-in-law, D. L. and Clemma McGee; and first cousin and lifelong friend, Jerry Johnson.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Mimosa Church of Christ, 436 Mimosa Road, Fayetteville, TN 37334, or the Nick Creson Scholarship Fund, 31 Hamestring Road, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

The family would like to thank everyone at Bailey Manor for exceptional care, compassion, and friendship.

Billy was a great guy , I enjoyed knowing him – he was my mentor in our civic club years ago. Prayers for the family !

Billy and I worked together for 20 years. One of many thing about Billy was he never never lost his Temper. He was a true friend and a great man.

I really enjoyed taking care of mr. Billy. His memory will forever live with me. It was a great honor to be able to take care of him. Thank you for trusting us and letting us be apart of y’all’s lives. He will forever be missed and loved.
