Billie Jack Netherland, Sr.

Funeral service for Mr. Billie Jack Netherland, Sr., age 81, of Fayetteville, will be conducted Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Washington Street Church of Christ, with Bro. Greg Wiser, Bro. Howard Elliott and Charles Gleghorn officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Netherland passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Netherland was a native of Union City, TN, the son of the late Billie Silas and Ruby Love Douglas Netherland. He was Vice President over loans at the Bank of Lincoln County, an Army veteran, an Elder at the Cyruston Church of Christ and a member of the Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include his wife Sandra Netherland of Fayetteville, TN, children Vicky Groce, Jackie Netherland Wright, Billie Jack Netherland, Jr. all of Fayetteville, TN, Sherry McConnell of Huntsville, AL, grandchildren Waid Groce, Justin Groce, Patrick Wright, Brandon Netherland, Ben Netherland, Halie Horton, Alexis Horton, Dalenna Horton, Emma McConnell and great grandchildren Hunter Groce, Dalton Groce and Alexis Cook.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, January 2, 2017 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.

Mr Jack was a great man n a great neighbor. I always looked up to him n that sweet smile. He may be gone but never forgotten.

Fayetteville has lost one of the best. Jack supported sports in Fayetteville, but more importantly, he supported the youth of both the city and the county. He will be greatly missed. My sympathy to all of his family.

Heaven has truly gained an Angel when Mr. Jack was called home. He was a wonderful man, father, and friend. He will be missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing him and calling him our friend. Hugs and prayers to all of you! My thoughts and prayers go out to Jack’s family during this difficult time. I have known the family for years and Jack and Sandra were wonderful Christian influences in my life. I will always remember our softball days and the great times we had. Jack has gone home to meet his Lord and Savior.

It is with profound sadness that I learned of Billie Jack’s death. He was a kind and gracious person and a tireless worker for the betterment of the Fayetteville-Lincoln County community and Motlow College. He will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to all the family.

Billy Jack was truly a very special person. Kind, considerate, and a true gentleman. I enjoyed so much working with him on the Motlow College Golf Tournaments. With his smile he always made me feel good. My condolences to Sandra and the family.
