Beverly Ann Downing Towry

A memorial service for Ms. Beverly Ann Downing Towry, age 77, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at 2 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Fayetteville United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy Iburg officiating. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday at 1 PM until time of service at the church. Higgins Funeral home is honored to be serving the family of Ms. Towry.

Beverly was born on April 17, 1941 in Davidson County, TN to the late James Laughton and Merlene Sloan Downing. She volunteered as the secretary of the Lady Elks, Elks Club Hoop Shoot and a Girl Scout Leader. She was also a basketball coach at Hillcrest High School and very involved in the Special Olympics track and field. Ms. Towry passed away on March 26, 2019 at her residence.

Survivors include her daughters, Tina Towry (Gary) Osgood of Fayetteville, TN and Terri Towry (Jerry) McCloud of Nashville, TN; special companion, Frankie Stevenson of Fayetteville, TN; grandson, Brandon (Marsha) Sanders of Gladeville, TN; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Grace Sanders, Hunter Houston Sanders, and Bailey Osgood; brother, James Austin Downing of Murfreesboro, TN; nephews, Julian and Brock Downing; and faithful companion, Boots. The family would like to extend special thanks to Avalon Hospice, Lynchburg Nursing Center, Kathy Bryson, Sherry Norris, Dot Daniels, and Patty Jackson for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fayetteville – Lincoln County Humane Society at 1718 Pulaski Hwy, Fayetteville, TN 37334 or Imagination Library at PO Box 914, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

So sorry to hear of the loss of the loss of your Mom. She helped me to to find a pink Christmas tree one year that I had looked every where for , and she had one and sold it to me. I will always honor her every Christmas with that tree. Love and sympathy to you and your family.

I can still hear her saying ‘ Well hello Sherrie ‘ She always said your name and smiled. She made a point to ask you how you were doing . She was so kind. Beverly will be missed .
