Bettye Jean Norman Collins

It is with regret that we announce the passing of Bettye Jean Norman Collins, age 86, of Fayetteville, TN. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Mulberry Cemetery with Bro. Tommy Graham officiating. There will be no visitation with the family prior to the service.

Bettye was born July 31, 1935, in Lincoln County, TN to the late Ernest Harold and Rubye Deane Watson Norman. She was a 1952 graduate of Central High School and worked as a seamstress for Lincoln Manufacturing Company. Bettye loved her family dearly and loved cooking for and entertaining all five generations in her home. She passed away on January 4, 2022, at Donalson Care Center.

Survivors include her children; Denise (John) Hoots of Fayetteville, Judy Hodges of Huntsville, AL, and Jimmy Collins of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Marcie Hoots, Joshua Holaway, Courtney (Michael) Tisdell; great grandchildren; Ryleigh (Zach) Barnes, Kaitlyn Holaway, Ella Grace Holaway; Cade Tisdell; Luke Tisdell; Hadley Tisdell; great-great grandchildren; John-Luke Barnes and Jordy Barnes; brother, William (Dawn) Norman; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Wysong Collins, Sr. and her brother, Harold Norman.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Bettye Jean Norman Collins.

Denise & Marci. So sorry about the passing of your mother & grandmother. I used to visit her with my Aunt Ruth Curtis. They were great friends. May God comfort you & your families!

I went to school with Betty, Denise lived next door to my parents when Marcie was young, I had no idea Betty was your mother, we played basketball together. My thoughts and prayers are with you Agnes Campbell Barnes

Denise and Family, Sorry to hear about Betty’s passing. I was raised in Belfast about a mile from H C and Annie May. I knew Jimmy, Philip and Gene. I remember your Mama and Daddy having the store in Belfast. Thoughts and Prayers for You and Your Family.
