Betty June Faulkner Whitsett

Betty June Faulkner Whitsett, age 89, of Fayetteville, TN passed away Sunday evening, June 14, 2026. Visitation with family is scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4 pm until 7 pm, at Higgins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 2 pm, with Bro. James West officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens beside her late husband, Robert L. “Bob” Whitsett.

Betty was a native of Lincoln County and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.  Before her retirement from Lincoln County Assessor’s office, she also worked in the Register’s office with her late husband, Bob, who was the Lincoln County Register of Deeds. Betty and Bob also owned and operated NAPA Auto Parts in Fayetteville for many years.

She will best be remembered for her love of family, her quick wit, enjoying fun at the Lincoln County Fair, and baking pies for family and friends. She was a member of the Central High School Class of 1955 and enjoyed her classmates and gatherings. She also enjoyed the annual Booneville Community Reunion – the community where she grew up.

Survivors include children, Audrey (Randy) Gentry, Cheryl (Gary) Damron, Vickie Dorning, and Barry (Tabatha) Whitsett; grandchildren, Chad (Lauren) Gentry, Amanda Pierce, Ryan (Nancy) Damron, Matthew (Kayla) Damron, Robert “Rob” (Ciarra) Damron, Joseph (Reilly Watson) Dorning, Christina (Matthew) Quick, Mason Dorning, Tyler Pitre, Kainan Whitsett, Laura Katherine Whitsett, and McKeon Whitsett; fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; several loved nieces and nephews, and special sister-in-law, Barbara Faulkner.

Betty was also preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” and Vivian Solomon Faulkner, and her siblings; Jab Faulkner (Frances), Billy Faulkner (Frances), Joe Faulkner (Debbie), Mary Sue Gray (Lee), and Martha Ann Boyd.

I worked with Ms Betty at the Lincoln County Property assessors office for about 10 years. She was fun to work with.

So sorry to hear about Betty she was a great friend and she will be missed dearly. Every time I seen her she would hug my neck she was so sweet and she will be missed dearly.
