Barbara McCown Spencer

 

Funeral services for Barbara McCown Spencer, age 74 of Taft, will be conducted Saturday at 2 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. David Sain officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Mrs. Spencer passed away Thursday morning in Lincoln Medical Center.

She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late Otis N. and Linnie McAlister McCown. Mrs. Spencer was a retired employee of Serbin Manufacturing and a member of the West Fayetteville Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband Virgil Spencer of Taft, daughter Kim Spencer and special friend Laura Moulthroup of Murfreesboro, brothers; Phillip McCown, Joe McCown (Jan), Larry McCown (Bonnie) all of Fayetteville, Danny McCown (Betty) of Madison, AL, sisters; Carol Chandler (Joe) of Huntsville, AL, Joyce Mahal (Ron), Gail Cornelius (John),  Judy McCown of Fayetteville, sisters-in-law; Ginger McCown of Fayetteville and Edna McCown of Evansville, IN, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Darrine Roper and brother Newman McCown.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 11 AM – 2 PM at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Macedonia Cemetery Fund, % Janice McCown, 65 Johnson Road, Fayetteville, TN 37334 or the West Fayetteville Church of Christ.

Kim,
I was shocked to see your mother’s name in the obituaries. I am so sorry for your loss. I would love to see you. Maybe I can get by for the visitation. We both have a lot of good memories from years ago playing softball.

Barbara’s dear family,

Just wanted to let all of you know how sorry I am for the loss of your sister, Barbara. All of you have been such a close and loving family, and I know this has to be a really difficult time for you.
