Ada Mae Sorrells Fullerton (82) was called to her heavenly home Saturday, April 21, 2012, following a short illness. A lifelong resident of Petersburg, she was born on January 10, 1930 to the late Eugene and Beulah Darnell Sorrells; and was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by sister Elizabeth Sorrells Finley and brothers James (Jack) Sorrells and William T.(Bill) Sorrells.
Mrs. Fullerton, or “Ma” as fondly called by her family and adopted family, was an avid quilter who enjoyed volunteering, especially at the Petersburg Library, and offering help to anyone in the community needing a loving helping hand. A longtime member of the Bledsoe Church of Christ, she was known for her skills as a cook and someone who always welcomed you into her home. A devoted Christian, wife, mother, aunt, and friend, she worked beside her husband on their farm, worked outside the home as a seamstress, for many years owned and operated a small country store known as Fullerton’s Grocery in the small community of PoGrab.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, William E. (Bill) Fullerton, and their three children: daughter Donna (Dan) Stone of Shelbyville; sons Bobby (Teresa) and David (Tammy) Fullerton of Petersburg; nine grandchildren, Lisa Mansfield, Garry Pinkston, Ashleigh Beyer, Alyssa Craft, Jennifer Williams, Jared Fullerton, Adam Fullerton, Kristin Foss, and Ashley Richards; plus nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-law Jean Sorrells of Greenbrier, TN, and brother Joe (Thelma) Sorrells of Texas, along with many nieces and nephews who loved “Aunt Mae”.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Derrick Thompson and Steve Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow in Old Orchard Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be Monday evening 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

It saddens me to read of the passing of your Mother. Mothers are so hard to give up. I didn’t know her but I can honestly say that she raised two fine young men. I’m sure she was proud of her family. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Sending hugs!

many good memories are present, —-well too many to describe or count; but all good.
Mostly school bus days and stopping at the store.

I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs Fullerton. On the rare occasion I had to meet her it was at her home while watching a football game with Donna and Mr Fullerton. She was an angel and made me feel welcome. My sympathy goes out to the family and to Donna and Bobby that I know best of all, may God bless and keep you through your sorrow.
