Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. William Thomas Welch, age 79, of Petersburg, will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Benny Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Welch Cemetery. Mr. Welch was a native of Lincoln County, Tennessee and son of the late Rufus Childress and Margaret Wells Welch. He was a member of the Petersburg Church of Christ, worked for Lewisburg Casting Company, Marshall County Farmers Co-Op, and loved farming.

Survivors include his wife Martha Jane Parker Welch; sons Mark (Becky) Welch, Chris (Tammy) Welch, and Greg (Janet) Welch all of Petersburg; daughter Wendy (Randy) Crutcher of Buford, GA; grandchildren Jessica Sharp, Luke (Brandy) Welch, Nathan (Christy) Welch, Jason (Jacqueline) Welch, Ashley (Chris) Dotson, Andrew (Brandy) Welch, Austin Welch, Haliey Welch, Abby Wells, and Rachel (John) Crutcher; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother Dennis (Pam) Welch of Petersburg; sister-in-law Gail Welch; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Welch was preceded in death by a brother David Welch.

Visitation with the family will be 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or the Petersburg Church of Christ 203 Russell St, Petersburg, TN 37144. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mr. William Thomas Welch.
